The new Canadian Freelance Union is conducting an online survey of all
those who work as independent contractors in the news media, public
relations, communications and information technology industries.
The questionnaire, which is completely anonymous, is designed to gather
information about the background and concerns of Canadian freelancers.
That information will be used to lobby on behalf of freelancers and to
help establish the priorities of the Canadian Freelance Union.
The questions ask about the type of work you do, hours, your
professional background and income as well as what can be done to
improve the working lives of freelancers.
Even if you are not a union supporter, please complete the survey in
order that the statistics gathered are as accurate as possible.
Some time later this year we will publish the results on this website.
Please click here to complete the survey, which will take less than 10 minutes of your time.
The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP),
Canada’s Media Union, is also conducting the largest-ever survey of
employed journalists. Together with the information gathered from the
Canadian Freelance Survey, the CEP Canadian Media Study will provide a
comprehensive description of the people who gather this country’s news.
The CEP is dedicated to quality journalism that serves the interests of
all Canadians and enables the functioning of our democracy.
