The National Union of Journalists has attacked News International over the company's freelance agreement for its new free newspaper, the London Paper.

The union has advised its 8,000 freelance members to reject the freelance contract, which assigns all present and future copyright to News International and not the journalist.

"Two freelance photographers and a writer had refused to sign the contract," said the NUJ freelance organiser, John Toner, who added that such agreements were unusual in national newspapers.
